John as editor of NZ Road Cyclist Magazine; strategic focus; magazine launch, writing, photography, videography and managing a team of contributors and photographers supplying content.

Seven extremely rewarding years as editor of NZ Road Cyclist Magazine, travelling as accredited media to some of the world’s largest cycling events including the Tour de France. The role required planning and writing content (including video and photography) and managing a team of contributors and photographers supplying material for the magazine.

It was New Zealand’s only dedicated Road Cycling magazine and 10,000 copies were distributed nationwide bi-monthly to over 900 retail outlets and a large subscriber base. The magazine quickly became one of NZ’s most popular sporting publications, being produced to meet the demand for credible information for the enthusiastic ‘weekend warriors’ who make up the vast majority of New Zealand’s road cyclists.

As well as being Editor of NZ Road Cyclist Magazine John was involved in a number of cycling and multi sport events in media and ownership roles and was involved in a masters cycling team winning a number of age group regional and national medals which saw Specialized Bikes support him as a Brand Ambassador for six years.

The magazine was sold to its Sales Manager in 2017 and was renamed NZ Cycling Journal.
